Hello, there! I'm Chelsea

I'm a UX designer and service designer along with a data science mindset who emphasizes, analyzes, and crafts.

I value accessibility, growth and innovation very much.

πŸŽ“πŸ“ˆ Because of my former education in stats & data science, I always appreciate insights & patterns directly derived from numerical data and help teams make data-driven decisions. I adaptively accommodate variations and make intentional design decisions on that basis. Knowing some of the programming languages and my data visualization skills also helps me in bridging the divide and conveying design decisions with supporting evidence.

β™»οΈπŸƒ I am currently very interested in accessible and sustainable UX design. Low efficiency in product is frequently discussed, but we often underestimate its underlying causes. Accessibility challenges for disabled users and high energy consumption can lead to the exclusion of many individuals. I'm continuously learning and seeking ways to create smoother, more inclusive experiences.

🫢🧐 I also feel a growing curiosity about the human side of qualitative data. Therefore, I dive deeply into user research and usability testing to interpret the stories behind each human behaviour and feedback.

I've always had a passion for photography and photo editing, which developed during my post-secondary years. With a keen eye for beauty, I wish for everyone to naturally share and enjoy invisible design in their day to day life. What seems intuitive to us as designers can sometimes be a puzzle to end users. I wanted to connect users with the transformative power of digital technology. That's basically how I ended up in UX design.

Design Philosophy.

What is My Design Thinking Process?

I typically start by pivoting organizational problems and needs. This helps me understand the context and define the overall direction quickly and concretely, ensuring I stay on the same page with the entire team. I also utilize quantitative results from background research to frame the problem. Then, while conducting user research, I specifically highlight outstanding quantitative data and business opportunities to further support personas and journey maps. During the ideation process, I prefer to bring different teams together for co-design sprints. Even if some ideas are wild, I like to explore if there are any opportunities to turn them into feasible solutions. In the actual prototype phase, I build storyboards and low-fidelity sketches first, which helps me refine the overarching framework. A high-fidelity prototype is then developed with interactivity, benefiting later usability tests. I value usability tests which provide me with first impression feedback, allowing me to quickly address any issues and prepare for the next iterative process if needed.
